Thin credit file
Limited borrowing history does not automatically mean you cannot apply.
If you have missed payments, defaults, a CCJ, a thin credit file or have been declined before, you can still make a motorcycle finance application. Mallory Motorcycles will listen to your circumstances and explain the available next steps clearly.
Credit difficulties can happen for many reasons. A lender may look at your current income, regular outgoings, address and employment history, the amount you want to borrow and how manageable the repayments are — as well as your credit file.
That does not mean finance will be available. It means an accurate, complete application gives the finance provider the information needed to make a responsible decision.
Limited borrowing history does not automatically mean you cannot apply.
Defaults or missed payments may be considered alongside your current position.
Any agreement must be suitable and affordable for your circumstances.
Providing accurate information helps us and any prospective lender understand your current circumstances.
Think about the deposit, monthly payments, insurance, maintenance and other regular commitments.
Gather your address history, employment details, income and outgoings before you start.
Always answer application questions honestly. This helps ensure any decision is based on the right information.
Where finance is available, Hire Purchase (HP) is a common way to fund a used motorcycle. You usually pay a deposit followed by fixed monthly payments. When all payments and any option-to-purchase fee are made, you own the motorcycle.
We will explain the agreement, total amount payable and any important terms before you enter into it.

We can assess your existing motorcycle for part exchange. Subject to appraisal, its value may contribute towards a deposit or reduce the amount being financed.

Yes, you can make an application. Past credit difficulties, a thin credit file or previous declines do not automatically prevent finance, but every application is subject to affordability checks, lender criteria and status.
Some lenders may consider applications from customers with CCJs or defaults. If you are in an IVA, you may need your Insolvency Practitioner’s permission before applying. Finance is not guaranteed.
Deposit requirements depend on the motorcycle, your circumstances and lender criteria. An approved part exchange may be used towards a deposit or to reduce the amount borrowed.
Lenders commonly need accurate details about your income, outgoings, address history, employment and the motorcycle you wish to buy. The information requested varies by lender and agreement.
You usually have the right to settle regulated hire-purchase finance early. Your lender will provide a settlement figure and explain any applicable interest rebate under the agreement.
